My submission system counts words differently — which number should I trust?
Systems differ: some exclude whitespace, others count punctuation and spaces too. Compare the requirement against the non-whitespace character count first, then check the total character count against the loosest system — the two numbers bracket the answer.
Does it handle mixed CJK/English text, numbers and Markdown notation?
CJK text counts by character and English by word, never double-counted; decimals and version numbers are not mistaken for sentence ends. Markdown notation is treated as plain characters, so there is no need to clean up formatting first.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Counting happens in your browser — pasted content and uploaded .txt / .md files never touch a server.
