Character mode or line mode — which should I use?
Character mode pins changes down to the letter, best for within-sentence edits in Chinese prose. Line mode aligns by line, best for code, lists and large files, and is much faster. Switching granularity recomputes immediately.
Will comparing very long texts freeze the page?
Above 200KB on either side, character mode slows down noticeably and the page suggests switching to line mode; above 1MB it refuses to compute — split the text and compare the relevant sections.
Are my two texts uploaded?
No. The comparison happens in your browser — the original, the revision and the diff never touch a server.
