FAQ

What is HEIC?

HEIC (carried in a HEIF container) has been the iPhone's default photo format since iOS 11; at the same visual quality it takes about half the space of JPG. Compatibility is still incomplete — many websites, submission systems and older Windows versions cannot open it directly.

Why convert to JPG?

JPG has the broadest compatibility — submission systems, documents and chat apps accept it almost everywhere. Choose PNG when you need transparency or lossless quality, or WebP for smaller files on the web and in chats.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Decoding and encoding both happen in your browser (WebAssembly, locally); the photos never touch a server, and there is no extra limit on how many you convert.
